Aftercare Instructions

3 Nights of Wrapping

(Proper care and handling of your new tattoo)

  1. Leave tattoo covered until you get home (at least an hour)
  2. Wash hands well with soap and water, remove the bandage/covering
  3. Wash tattoo thoroughly with antibacterial soap and hot water. This may sting, however you will NOT wash the tattoo away. Wash it well. This is a very important step! It will help in preventing infection.
  4. Allow your tattoo to air dry until right before bed.
  5. DO NOT APPLY LOTION BEFORE YOU WRAP IT (This will make a mess and over-moisturize your tattoo) Wrap it for the first 3 nights with Plastic wrap only. More than 3 nights is not needed.
  6. When you wake, unwrap and shower immediately. Wash the tattoo thoroughly. Wash really well, preferably with a bottled squirt soap, as bar soap grows bacteria all day…
  7. Allow the tattooed area to air dry for a couple of hours before moisturizing in any way.
  8. Apply Lotion no more than 2-3 times per day.
  9. The idea is to provide the tattoo with a small amount of moisture during the night so the tattoo does not have a chance to dry out too badly during these three most important nights.

There will be a big mess under the wrap, don’t freak out … just wash the area well!

Sleep with an item of clothing over the area to help hold the plastic wrap in place. Clothing will also provide an extra layer of protection for a new tattoo.

If shoes are needed, wrap the area in plastic and then wear socks to hold the wrap in place. If you plan on working out in a gym, it is very important to not allow contact between the tattoo and the equipment.

Bacteria=Infection. It is ok to wrap your tattoo for activities, just unwrap and wash thoroughly ASAP!

Avoid swimming, hot tubs, soaking or sun for at least two weeks

Sunburnt tattoos lose color and look dull and lifeless

DO NOT pick or scratch your tattoo!!

Scratching will cause damage to the tattoo and surrounding tissue.
Itching means healing .. apply lotion or gently slap the area to relive itching.

ALWAYS thoroughly wash your hands
BEFORE touching your tattoo

DON”T let others (this includes pets) touch or lick your tattoo until it is healed

A new tattoo will take 2-4 weeks to completely heal
